College Football Bowl Picks Contest
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. Open only to legal residents of Texas who are 18 years of age or older as of 12/09/09. Void wherever prohibited by law. Employees of Scripps Texas Newspapers, LLC dba San Angelo Standard-Times / gosanangelo.com, their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, suppliers (collectively, “Sponsor”) and the immediate family members and/or those living in the same household of each are not eligible. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by the Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsor.
TO ENTER:
1) Beginning 10:00 AM Central Time 12/09/09 through 6:45 PM Central Time 01/07/10, go to www.gosanangelo.com/bowlpicks. Follow the on-screen instructions to pick who you think will win each game listed, and the final score of the indicated tiebreaker game. You may choose the winning teams for all games at once, or you may make them one at a time but all of your picks must be made at least 15 minutes prior to the start of each game. You must select a winning team for all of the games listed and the final score for the indicated tie breaker game and failure to do so will result in elimination.
Limit one entry per person/household address regardless of method of entry. No mechanically reproduced entries of any kind permitted. Illegible and incomplete entries are void. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected entries or entries not received. In the event of a dispute over who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed to have been submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail account identified on the online entry form. The authorized account holder is deemed to be the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, service provider, or online organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.
WINNER DETERMINATION: Winners will be determined by the amount of points each entrant receives based on the entrants’ game winners’ selections. The top 5 eligible entrants to receive the highest points overall, based on their selection of the game winners, will be deemed 1st through 5th Place winners (the entrant with the highest amount of points will be the 1st Place winner; second highest amount of points will be the 2nd Place winner, and on down to the 5th highest amount of points being the 5th Place winner.) The point value for each game is clearly marked. If an entrant doesn't pick a winner for all of the games listed or the tie breaking game final score, that entrant will be disqualified and ineligible. Ties are broken as follows: The computer takes all the entrants who are tied for most points based on who they selected as the game winners and, 1. Subtracts what the entrant chose as the score for the winning team from the actual winning team's score and squares this value. 2. Subtracts what the entrant chose as the score for the losing team from the actual losing team's score and squares this value. 3. Adds 1 and 2 above together to get the entrant's "score approximation". 4. The entrant with the lowest "score approximation" wins. If there is still a tie the computer then chooses a random winner from those who are tied. Decisions of Sponsor are final on all matters. Winners will be notified by phone/email. Odds of winning will depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
PRIZES: (1) 1st Place Prize – winner will receive one fleece, Standard-Times blanket and four Cinemark Tinseltown movie passes (ARV: $42). (1) 2nd Place Prize – winner will receive four Cinemark Tinseltown movie passes (ARV: $30). (1) 3rd Place Prize – winner will receive two Cinemark Tinseltown movie passes (ARV: $15). (1) 4th Place Prize – two Cinemark Tinseltown movie passes (ARV: $15). (1) 5th Place Winner – two Cinemark Tinseltown movie passes (ARV: $15). All Cinemark Tinseltown movie passes are valid at Cinemark Tinseltown located at 4425 Sherwood Way, San Angelo, TX 76901. Restrictions may apply. Prizes consist of only those items specifically listed as part of the prize. No substitution or transfer/assignment of prize by winners permitted. Subject to all terms, conditions and restrictions on movie passes or imposed by issuer.
All federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of winners. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Potential winners (or parent/legal guardian if potential winner is a minor in his/her state of residence) may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility/Release of Liability/Prize Acceptance Form, which may require social security number, postmarked within 10 days of the date on notification materials. Noncompliance within this time period and/or return of any prize/prize notification as undeliverable may result in disqualification and an alternate potential winner may be selected by random draw from all remaining eligible entries. All winners must produce picture or some other form of proper identification to claim any prize. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize with prize of equal or greater value. Acceptance of any prize constitutes permission to the Sponsor to use winners’ name, voice, statements, image and likeness for purposes of advertising and trade, in any medium, without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
TERMS: Sponsor not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing, the offering or the announcement of any prize or in the administration of the promotion, whether caused by computer, technical or human error. Winners assume all liability and agree to hold Sponsor harmless for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this promotion or use or redemption of any prize. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, incomplete, illegible, faulty, or incorrect transmissions, incorrect announcements of any kind, technical hardware or software failures of any kind, any damage to any person's computer related to or resulting from participating in the online portion of the promotion, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incomplete, garbled or delayed computer transmission that may limit a user’s ability to participate in the sweepstakes whether caused by computer, technical or human error. All terms of promotion shall be construed according to, and any disputes shall be subject to, the laws of the State of Texas. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the program for any reason, including but not limited to, if fraud, misconduct or technical failures destroy the integrity of the promotion; or if a computer virus, bug, or other technical problem corrupts the administration, security, or proper administration of the promotion as determined by Sponsor, in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify, freeze or prohibit the participation of an individual if fraud or tampering is suspected, or if the individual fails to comply with any requirement of participation or with any provision in these Official Rules. Any attempt to undermine the operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal & civil laws. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify and/or seek damages from any individual making any such attempts to the full extent permitted by law.
